Admissions

TCC Preschool runs morning and afternoon sessions. Children are offered a maximum of 5 sessions when using the 15 funded hours or up to a maximum of 10 sessions when using the 30 funded hours per week.  We offer a maximum of 2 sessions per day.

Our sessions run Monday to Friday as follows:

  • Mornings: 9.00 am to 12.00 pm (including lunch club, see below)
  • Afternoons: 12.00 pm to 3.00 pm (including lunch club, see below)

We are registered to accept up to 30 children each session. If you are interested in a place at our preschool download and print enrolment form below. A copy can also be picked up from the office, should you wish to visit us for a viewing. We’ll need the completed enrolment form along with a copy of your child's birth certificate and a one off £10 enrolment fee.

Admissions to the preschool are done on the child's date of birth. In addition our policy may take into account siblings already attending the pre-school. Acceptance onto our enrolment list does not guarantee a place at the preschool although we generally are able to offer most children a place with us.

Uniforms are optional and can be obtained from My Clothing:  https://myclothing.com/the-colourful-caterpillar/24725.school

Lunch Club

We also offer lunch club for morning and afternoon children during the following times:

  • Lunch club for morning children: 11.30pm to 12 noon
  • Lunch club for afternoon children: 12 noon to 12.30pm

Lunch club is optional but children must bring their own lunch.

We promote healthy lunch boxes for the lunch club so request that parents do not include chocolate or sweets and ensure there is a balanced lunch, i.e. includes sandwiches etc.

Funded Places

All children are funded by the West Berkshire Councils Early Years Education Grant from the term after their 3rd birthday when they are entitled to 15 hours a week free education for 38 weeks of the year. We also accept 30 hours funded children. Please find more information on the following website: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

As part of the flexible free entitlement for children who are funded, we endeavour to offer you 5 sessions from when you child starts preschool based on availability. If you do not want the full 5 sessions you can choose to have as many as you would like. Extra sessions will then be offered when available.

For those children who do not qualify for the early years education grant preschool sessions are charged at £14.00 per session to include lunch club.

2 Year Old Funding

Some 2 year olds are entitled to government funding. To be eligible for this funding a parent/carer must be in receipt of certain benefits or meet the criteria set by government based on:

A. Economic Criteria
B. Special Educational Needs (SEN) Criteria:
C. Looked After Child (LAC) Criteria:

The following link will provide up to date information:

The Preschool will aim to keep 2-4 afternoon sessions per day for 2 year olds qualifying for funding. They will be offered on a first come, first served basis. In certain circumstances and dependant on availability we will offer up to 4 places for 2 year funded children.

Once these spaces are filled additional 2 year olds with funding will be placed on our enrolment list until a space becomes available.

If there are no 2 year olds with funding in the Summer term, these sessions will be offered to existing children.
